Job Description

We offer an outstanding opportunity for an Assistant Transportation Manager to be responsible for coordinating and supervising all traffic functions relating to freight movement in and out of a Class1 railroad bulk transfer terminal. Openings in Doraville, GA.

Detailed Description

  • Direct and supervise the transfer and shipment of commodities from rail to truck and truck to rail; interface with operations to resolve any problems associated with scheduling and dispatching
  • Oversee carriers providing self-load services at the facility; monitor carrier adherence to customer terminal guidelines.
  • Oversee company personnel providing full service transloads; Insure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the commodities being transferred.
  • Direct company personnel to achieve prescribed objectives; develop and maintain a productive staff by hiring, training, and professional development; match the skill and background of associates to the work required; apply sound communication and motivational techniques, to supervise, counsel, and discipline subordinates; and implement performance evaluation system for recommending promotions, wage increases, and terminations.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely preparation, processing, distribution, and retention of all necessary reports and records regarding terminal operations.
  • Support business development sales and marketing efforts as needed, to include customer presentations and direct the completion of transportation studies and analysis.
  • Provide transportation support and assistance to customers as needed.
  • Effectively communicate with associates, customers, and carriers in person, via PC, or via phone to accomplish necessary objectives.
  • To provide flawless execution of the transportation services to our customer.
  • Insure compliance to all regulatory issues within scope of service and terminal safety rules and regulations.
  • Ensure a proactive track and trace process to insure all shipments are delivered in a timely manner; provide track and trace information to the customer is in a timely manner.
  • Ideal candidates will possess experience in hazardous materials handling, mechanical ability, and have some knowledge of railroad operations, tank car loading/unloading, safety, and freight management.
  • Experience with multiple computer software programs including Microsoft Office-Word and Excel spreadsheet;
