About the role:

The goal for this role is to increase financial resources for the ministry through strategically identifying new individuals, foundations, organizations, and business owners, building relationships with them, inviting them into financial partnership/ increased giving and stewarding their gifts.

This position will focus on securing five and six figure multi-year gifts to support the expansion of the ministry.  This role is also responsible for expanding the donor base in Cook County by identifying and engaging new major gift prospects, churches, community leaders, and businesses in the area. 

The Development Officer is results-oriented, energetic, and a team player with exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills to build lasting and meaningful relationships with our current ministry partners while engaging and obtaining financial support of those who haven’t previously partnered with the ministry.

This role reports to the Vice President of Development and serves as part of the Development Team. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain a portfolio of mid and major donors.
  • Invite new donors and engage current donors to increase their level of giving to advance the ministry’s expansion goals.
  • Engage in face-to-face solicitations to secure major gifts, including from 4 to 5-figure gifts and from 5 to 6-figure gifts.
  • Develop short and long-range plans to engage donors through personalized communications, insider events, and one-on-one meetings, seeking their financial support.
  • Implement disciplined methods for contacting, scheduling, visiting and personally following through to consistently grow a base of support from a growing number of donors.
  • Implement stewardship strategies to express appreciation for contributions, including personalized acknowledgements and impact reporting.
  • Identify prospects and cultivate relationships with individuals, churches and organizations in Cook/DuPage counties growing the donor base.
  • Present Caring Network to small and large groups in Cook/DuPage counties.   
  • Provide leadership for events at our Cook County clinics including identifying, recruiting and training volunteers for specific projects or events.
  • Work together with other members of the Development Team to coordinate fundraising activities.
  • Integrate planned giving to secure long-term sustainable giving.
  • Document, in CRM database, all contacts with donors.
  • Collaborate to develop and assist with donor events including hosting a table at dinner events.
  • Support upper management by sharing ideas for income generation.
  • Participate in bi-monthly Development Team Meetings and Monthly Staff Meetings.
  • Report to the VP Development regularly on progress and goals met.
  • Occasionally represent ministry at local churches and organizations including making presentations.
  • Keep abreast of both current trends in fundraising and pro-life issues as they pertain to our state and country.
  • Available to work weekends and evenings, as needed.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

 

Requirement

Candidate requirements:

  • A committed Christian who demonstrates a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and is a participant in a local church.
  • Exhibit a strong commitment and dedication to the pro-life position and enthusiasm for the mission and strategy of Caring Network.
  • Agree with and be willing to uphold Caring Network’s Statements of Faith and Principle and Core Values: Humility, Mutual Respect, Sacrificial Love, Optimism, Excellence, Integrity, Mission Focus, & Perseverance.
  • 2-5 years of successful face-to-face major gift solicitations.
  • Proven record of relationship building, customer service skills, and successful gift solicitations demonstrating a history of portfolio growth to meet and exceed fundraising goals including converting donors from four to five-figure gifts and five to six-figure gifts.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, advanced degree or CFRE a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire people to bring them in line with a vision and motivate them to reach goals.
  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities, with attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Ability to focus on and achieve goals.
  • Able to empathize and comfortable with participating in prayer with co-workers and ministry partners.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
  • Exhibit honesty, dependability, initiative, integrity, productivity, maturity, flexibility, professionalism, independence and teamwork.
  • Available to work weekends and evenings, as needed, and must be able to work from the Glen Ellyn administrative office and in DuPage and Cook counties.

Compensation:

$60-80k/year, depending on experience
