Job Summary

Serve as the driving force behind GuideStone's data governance initiatives, ensuring the strategic alignment of data management practices with organizational objectives and fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making excellence.  

 

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to implement data standards, data management practices, and data stewardship.

  • Monitor data management practices to ensure adherence to established policies and standards.

  • Assist in the resolution of data quality issues and the implementation of corrective measures

  • Manage metadata, including creation, updates, and deletion, to support organizational needs.

  • Participate in the creation and maintenance of data dictionaries and other data classification systems.

  • Generate reports and presentations for senior management detailing the status of data governance initiatives.

  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and regulations regarding data governance and data management

  • Collaborate effectively with business stakeholders, technology teams, and cross-functional units to understand data requirements and challenges comprehensively, ensuring a unified understanding across all parties.

  • Participate in enterprise-wide data management maturity assessments to define status, future aspirations, and the guiding principles for data governance initiatives

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive enterprise data operating model covering people, processes, technology, and governance structures to achieve holistic data management excellence

  • Support the identification and prioritization of Critical Data Elements (CDEs), ensuring proper governance controls and lineage tracking are applied.

  • Develop and manage data governance metrics and KPIs to monitor the effectiveness of policies and stewardship activities.

  • Coordinate with data architects and engineers to ensure governance standards are embedded in data architecture and platform decisions.

  • Contribute to the design and administration of data governance tools (Microsoft Purview) to support cataloging, lineage, and stewardship workflows.

  • Establish and oversee data access controls and classification standards to manage risk and protect sensitive information assets.

 

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Master’s Degree, preferred.

  • 5+ years of direct experience, preferred.  

  • Experience working in Data Governance and Data Quality systems such as Purview, Collibra, Qlik, etc

  • Excellent communicator able to galvanize and influence teams outside of data governance domain

  • Proficient skills in MS Office
